With over 700 images divided into 20 portfolios, Edward S. Curtis deftly documents the rich cultural heritage of North America's indigenous peoples. Discover the diversity of traditions, rediscover lost stories, and cultivate a sense of peaceful coexistence through his iconic work.

Edward Sheriff Curtis (1868-1952) spent his entire life preserving the cultural heritage of Native American peoples through a photography project. Over 30 years, he traveled across the continent in all kinds of conditions, using various modes of transportation to capture over 40,000 photos.

The North American Indian comprises twenty large-scale portfolios, showcasing the finest photographs taken by Curtis during his lifetime. This monument serves as a tribute to the vanishing culture of indigenous peoples in North America, providing a comprehensive glimpse into their way of life. Furthermore, the accompanying book also features a selection of photographs from the text volumes.

Thanks to Edward S. Curtis, we now have a remarkable understanding of the Hopi rites in the American southwest, as well as a vivid depiction of the Qagyuhl winter dancers and the ceremonies on Nunivak Island. His powerful photographs convey a crucial message of peaceful coexistence and overcoming hatred and prejudice by finding common ground when encountering someone new.
