In 1862, Louis Ernest Ladurée started a bakery in Paris at 16 rue Royale. After a fire in 1872, the bakery transformed into a pastry shop, designed by renowned artist Jules Cheret. Jeanne Souchard, Ladurée's wife, combined the shop with a Parisian café, revolutionizing the concept of a tea room. In 1993, it was acquired by Francis and David Holder, gaining fame as one of Paris' top gourmet destinations with its renowned macaroons. The iconic Ladurée also expanded internationally, with locations in London, Geneva, Monaco, and Tokyo. In the book "Ladurée Sucré: The Recipes," Philippe Andrieu, the Pastry Chef at Ladurée, shares 100 of the most famous recipes, adapted for all to enjoy.
