Discover the Belgian Surrealist's endless search for enchantment and enigma. This overview of Magritte showcases significant pieces from the artist's extensive collection of playful wit, contradictions, and unexpectedness, prompting us to continuously reexamine not only the artwork itself, but also our own concept of identity and reality.

René Magritte (1898–1967) used an echo chamber of object and image, name and thing, reality and representation in his paintings. This included men in bowler hats floating in the sky and a painting of a pipe with the caption "this is not a pipe".

Magritte's paintings, like other Surrealist works, employ a precise, mimetic technique to depict abnormal, alienating configurations that challenge the laws of scale, logic, and science. These imaginative images, such as a comb the size of a wardrobe or floating rocks, create a disorienting yet thought-provoking world that invites the viewer to contemplate what lies beyond the visible.

This informative book delves into Magritte's extensive collection of visual jokes, contradictions, and unexpected elements that continue to make us reconsider our own identities and perceptions of the world.
